Stop Smoking Aids: Nicotine Based Side Effects
Do
nicotine-based Stop Smoking Aids work?
Although there are many stop smoking
aids on the market, your chances of success
depend first and foremost on your determination
and willpower. That being said, the variety
of quit smoking aids that fall under the nicotine-based
category have a high success rate for individuals
who use them correctly. Smokers who use nicotine-based
products such as the patch or nasal spray claim
that they help alleviate their physical withdrawal
symptoms as they gradually wean themselves off
cigarettes.
Side effects of nicotine-based methods
Before you rush off to buy one of these
nicotine-based products, be aware of the warnings
and common side effects reported by users. Some
side effects include mouth irritation, insomnia,
heartburn, and headache. It should also be noted
that many doctors do not approve of the nicotine
based stop smoking aids for the reason that
they continue to feed nicotine into your body.
Furthermore, understand that these products
can cause serious damage to your health if you
use them while continuing to smoke.
Listen to my story:
Help, I think I am addicted to my nicotine gum!
I have been a smoker for over 10 years and in that time I have tried to
quit smoking at least 20 times. I know that smoking is bad for my health
and may even lead to me developing a form of cancer, and that is why I
want to quit! I have tried several methods of quitting, pills, sprays,
you name it. When a friend recommended nicotine gum, I was willing to
try. At first I thought that the gum tasted awful and I feared that I
would give up, but I willed myself to keep trying. I stuck with it, but
now I think that I am addicted to the gum. I have decided to give up on
this method, but now I feel as though I have to quit two addictions: smoking
and gum chewing!
Third times a charm!
As I write this, I am on my third attempt at quitting smoking. The first time that I tried I was flat out unsuccessful. I probably made it through 4 hours before I accepted an offer to join my office mate downstairs for a cigarette. On my second attempt, I actually thought that I had done it. After using the patch, I managed to quit smoking and I was nicotine-free for nearly 7 months. Unfortunately, after a bad break up, I turned to cigarettes and am now smoking double what I used to. I am no fool and know that smoking is hazardous to my health, but I genuinely can’t seem to find a way to make quitting stick. I have been doing research lately about alternative methods of quitting and think that perhaps this may be the best way for me to stop altogether. I have a few friends who tried a herbal patch and they were successful in kicking this disgusting habit. According to my friends, the herbal patch does not have any nasty side effects and actually works. I plan to start the process again in the next few weeks and this time I will be quitting is for good!
